The 16 personality types

Each type is four letters, and each letter comes from a real score: E or I, N or S, F or T, J or P. Here is every type in our own words.

The four letters

  • Outgoing (E) / Reserved (I)

E Recharges with people, starts conversations and enjoys being part of a group.

I Recharges with quiet time, keeps to the background and says less to people they have just met.

  • Imaginative (N) / Down-to-earth (S)

N Drawn to ideas, daydreams and new ways of doing things.

S Trusts what is real and proven, and prefers the practical to the abstract.

  • Heart-led (F) / Head-led (T)

F Cares how others feel, keeps the peace and prefers cooperation to competition.

T Says what they think, weighs things by logic and does not mind a good debate.

  • Structured (J) / Spontaneous (P)

J Likes order, schedules and plans that get kept.

P Likes open plans, last-minute choices and room to change course.

Four letters leave out one big part of personality: how you handle stress. Our test shows it as a fifth bar, steadiness, and uses it when you compare with someone.
